This large mountain range runs parallel across the Italian Peninsula. These mountains are actually in the more central regions of the land in the south, but move along eastward as they head north into the large mountain region that runs east to west. In the northwest they join with a large mountain region that runs east to west. There are many mountain passes, caves, and rivers that flow through and from the mountains. Traveling through them is often avoided because many mythological creatures make their home there.
