Thessalonica
The “second city” in the Byzantine Empire, it is second only to Constantinople in wealth and size. Like Constantinople the city borders a body of water on its eastern side. To its south are towering hills and mountains. With a humid climate and frequent rainfalls, the city is often struck by mists and fogs that cover the entirety of the city. To the East of Constantinople, it is closer to the Kingdom of Italy then the capital. The city itself is fashioned with many military and administrative buildings since the heart of the army is trained here. Like Constantinople it is separate by rich, middle class, and poor. The rich occupy the south eastern section between the mountains and the body of water. The middle class occupy the northwestern section, and are made up of artists, merchants, and knights. And finally the poor stay to the outskirts of the city.
