Venice This city state is unlike most cities in the world. Located in northeast Italy, the city is a group of small islands separated by canals and linked by bridges. It is actually off the cost of the Kingdom of Italy, surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. This makes ships the only ways of travel from and to the city. Currently the city thrives with wealth from trade with the Byzantine Empire, which is west of the city. The city is a popular place for all types of people: fishermen, merchants, sailors, pirates, nobles, and navy soldiers. However control of the city lies with its Council. The powerful navy that resides in Venice is under their control. |

Florence Another strong city of trade and wealth, Florence is located south of the Venice and the Po River in more central Italy. Three rivers flow directly through the city, adding to the humidity in the city. The city is quite large and is separated in different quarters dependent on the type of people living in the city. Some of the sections are actually walled off from other parts of the city. One that is completely surrounded by a wall is the center district. In the center the wealthy nobles thrive in grandiose houses. To the south is the southern district. It expands from the center all the way to the southern wall where the middle class and poor combine. Also in the middle district are numerous small ports and market places where many visitors to the city can be found. Finally to the north is the military district. Here the military of the different nobles train and live with their families. |

Rome Rome is the capital and central power in the Kingdom of Italy. Here the Church is most powerful. The city is in the center of Italy, southeast of Florence. The city is built on seven hills, each having their own walls to protect them from outside invaders. In the center of Rome is St. Peter’s Square where the Church’s power resides. There are many famous architectural buildings that still stand throughout Rome. Some of them include the old Coliseum that was once during the Roman Empire. Currently the Coliseum is still open and occasional tournaments between nobles and knights takes place here. The city also contains many glorious gardens, fountains, and aqueducts. The city itself attracts the lowest of the low and the highest of the high. The city is tightly watched by the holy nights. They seem to continue to be growing larger and larger by the day. |

Apennine Mountains This large mountain range runs parallel across the Italian Peninsula. These mountains are actually in the more central regions of the land in the south, but move along eastward as they head north into the large mountain region that runs east to west. In the northwest they join with a large mountain region that runs east to west. There are many mountain passes, caves, and rivers that flow through and from the mountains. Traveling through them is often avoided because many mythological creatures make their home there. |

Turin Turin is a city located northwest. It is the nearest city to the Kingdom of France. To the north are large mountains that indicate the end of the Kingdom of Italy. They are a mere three days journey from the nearest mountain. A stone wall surrounds the city, where ancient roman towers still stand and act as doors into the city. These structures are taller than the wall itself with barracks inside and posts for archers to shoot arrows from. The city was once a host for the main military camp of Rome, but since the end of the Roman Empire the estates are now run by the different nobles in the city. The Po River runs directly into the city from the east. The weather is naturally cooler in Turin then in the many other cities in the Kingdom of Italy. |

Po River The Po River flows east across the northern sections of Italy. It originates from a spring on a stony hillside. It is the longest river in Italy and flows through Turin. Living on the river east of Turn is sometimes hard due to its frequent flooding. However it is a popular river for traveling. |
